WHL Roundup: Chiefs beat Oil Kings for seventh straight win

EDMONTON — Jack Finley scored twice as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 6-2 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Leif Mattson, Luke Toporowski, Owen MacNeil and Noah King also scored to help Spokane extend its win streak to seven games.

Lukas Parík kicked out 25 shots for the Chiefs (38-18-5), who used a four-goal second period to blow the game open. 

Wyatt McLeod and Vladimir Alistrov had goals for the Oil Kings (41-11-10).

Sebastian Cossa turned away 34 shots for Edmonton.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Jack O'Brien scored a hat trick as the Winterhawks (43-11-7) hammered Tri-City (17-37-6) to move a point ahead of Everett for first in the Western Conference.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Taylor Gauthier made 37 saves and Mitchell Kohner and Vladislav Mikhalchuk scored as the Cougars (18-34-8) blanked Lethbridge (37-17-7) to halt a four-game slide.

SASKATOON — Dakota Krebs scored the winner at 8:59 of the third period as Calgary (35-22-5) halted a three-game losing streak with a win over the Blades (31-24-5).
