CREMONA – A Cremona man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two people were attacked Monday.

On Nov. 18, 2024, at approximately 2:37 a.m. Didsbury RCMP was dispatched to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Cremona.

“The complainant, who was in Calgary, indicated that there was a male in the residence who was attacking two other occupants,” police said in a release issued Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, RCMP located two individuals, an 86-year-old male and a 59-year-old female, who police said had been seriously injured and in medical distress.

“Both victims, who were severely injured, remain in hospital, but are expected to survive,” police said.

The officer searched the residence and located the suspect in the basement, police said.

“After a brief confrontation with the officer, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Officers then provided first aid to the two injured parties until EMS arrived and took them to a Calgary hospital,” police said.

Montana Ronquist, a 29-year-old resident of Cremona, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

After a judicial interim release hearing, Ronquist was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Nov. 20.
