A 29-year-old man who has been missing from Banff since April 19 has been found dead at the base of Tunnel Mountain in Banff.

Police say foul play is not suspected, but last week issued a media release calling for the public’s help in locating Mike Ilagan amid concern for his well-being.

“Banff RCMP advise that Mike Ilagan has been located deceased,” said Cpl. Gina Slaney, a public information officer with Alberta RCMP, in a media release Monday (May 6).

“The manner of death is not deemed to be suspicious.”

Ilagan was last seen April 19, 2024, at Sunshine Village. He was last seen wearing a red plaid flannel top and jeans.

He was described as a Filipino male, five-foot-four tall, with a medium complexion, brown hair, brown eyes and a slim build.

“Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Slaney.

Parks Canada did not get back to the Outlook on the search or recovery of the body.
