Two youth charged with First Nation church arson north of St. Albert

Two young people were arrested by Morinville RCMP and charged with arson, according to a Dec. 5 news release.

Two people too young to be named face charges in relation to the destruction by fire of a church on Alexander First Nation at the end of September.

The young people were arrested by Morinville RCMP and charged with arson, according to a Dec. 5 news release.

They’ve since been released and are scheduled to appear in court in Morinville Jan. 21.

Police responded to the fire at the Roman Catholic Church on the First Nation 34 kilometres northwest of St. Albert at 12:40 a.m. Oct. 1.

Firefighters from the First Nation, Sturgeon County and Morinville put the flames down but not before they rendered the structure a write-off.
