BONNYVILLE - A Bonnyville man is facing several charges after police did a roadside check and confirmed the driver of the vehicle was suspended from driving - and also allegedly had crystal meth in plain view in the vehicle.

On Nov. 5, Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a possible suspended driver on Highway 41.

"Members conducted immediate patrols and located the suspect truck and trailer. A roadside check with the driver confirmed his identity and the fact that he was suspended from driving," according to information from Bonnyville RCMP.

The RCMP officer also reportedly noted "crystal meth in plain view" and arrested the driver for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police also say the VIN of the truck had been altered.

Dean Gamache, 34, of Bonnyville is charged with driving while prohibited, possession of stolen property, altering a VIN, failing to comply with a probation order and possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking.

Gamache was remanded in custody and is set to appear in court on Nov. 19.
