A man has been charged after two masked men entered the TD Canada Trust bank on Bonnyville's main street with a firearm and demanded money on Dec. 14 at approximately 4:35 p.m., according to RCMP.
RCMP have laid several armed robbery-related charges on the 34-year-old man who is presently at-large. The same suspect has also been charged in the robbery of an Alberta Treasury branch in Lac La Biche Dec. 7.
RCMP consider Franklin William Gladue of Edmonton to be armed and dangerous.
“The same individual has been charged in both armed robberies, insofar as that there is a connection,” Staff Sgt. Luis Gandolfi said.
However, RCMP would not make any further inferences, as the investigation is still ongoing.
The second suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery has not yet been identified.
“When the call came in police responded immediately, but unfortunately the suspects were able to depart the scene,” said Gandolfi.
The Bonnyville TD Canada Trust branch would not comment on the incident. TD Canada Trust's head office did not respond to requests for an interview by press time.
RCMP ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information on the whereabouts of Gladue to contact the detachment at (780) 826-3350, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
