Christmas concert brings holiday cheer to Vera M. Welsh Elementary School

LAC LA BICHE - The sounds of the holiday season echoed through the walls of Lac La Biche’s Vera M. Welsh Elementary School on Dec. 16 as the school held its annual Christmas concert.

A crowd of family and friends gathered in the gymnasium to watch the hour-long show, which featured performances by students from preschool to Grade 3.

Students sang a variety of well-known Christmas tunes, including ‘Snow, Snow, Snow,' ‘Silent Night,’ as well as some new ones, including ‘Santa Shark’ and ‘We Wish You a Swingin’ Holiday.’

The Vera M. Welsh concert coincided with other events took place at Lac La Biche-area schools in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Aurora Middle School held its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 12 while students at École Plamondon showcased their acting abilities in a special production held at the school on Dec. 13.

From Dec. 17-19, JA Williams (JAWS) High School in Lac La Biche put on a theatrical version of S.E. Hinton’s iconic novel ‘The Outsiders,’ with both matinee and evening shows at Portage College’s McGrane Theatre.

École Beausejour in Plamondon hosted its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 19.
