LAC LA BICHE - At 10 p.m. on Jan. 7, with little traffic around, Lac La Biche County crews were busy clearing snow from streets in the downtown core of the hamlet of Lac La Biche.
This work included removing snow from the bulbouts, sidewalks, curbs, and other features that were installed as part of the second phase of the $32.5 million Main Street Revitalization project. This work took place from April to October 2024, in the section of Main Street (101st Ave.) between 101 Street to 102 Street.
Earlier in the evening, Lac La Biche County staff put up signage informing motorists about the work that was being done, including signs indicating that parking after 10 p.m. was not allowed in those areas of downtown Lac La Biche where snow removal was taking place.
According to information from Lac La Biche County, in addition to the work on Jan. 7, County staff are also planning to remove snow from roadways on Jan. 9 starting at 6 a.m. in Lac La Biche’s downtown core and in the north part of the hamlet.
Work is also set to take place in Lac La Biche’s south zone on Jan. 10.
The information went on to state that snow removal for the hamlet of Plamondon was completed on Jan. 3.
“To help us remove snow efficiently, please ensure that your vehicle is not parked on affected streets,” according to the County.
As stated by Environment Canada, the weather forecast for the Lac La Biche region as of Jan. 8 predicts sunny and slowly increasing colder temperatures, with periods of snow on Friday and Saturday. Daytime highs of -12C and nighttime lows of -18C are expected, heading into the week of Jan. 12.
