Feeding and fundraising at local events

Blair Norton and Rodd Webb, members of the Kinsmen Club of Lac La Biche, serve pancakes and sausages to Billi Castor and her daughter, Drayah Castor.

Flipping flapjacks and serving up the sausages is a good way to raise awareness and funds for local groups like Lac La Biche KidSport and the Lac La Biche Kinsmen Club.  Both groups return funds raised at events like the pancake breakfasts to community members in need.

Members of the two local groups were serving up the cheer and the food at the recent Festival of Trees weekend in Lac La Biche.

Donations taken at the Festival of Trees breakfast events will be tallied and put into the budgets for the local groups to be distributed into the community.

Groups like the Kinsmen and KidSport could also be receiving funding from the Festival of Trees weekend, as several groups that help throughout the annual festive weekend receive a share of proceeds. This year as visitors to the event enjoyed  breakfasts and festive cheer, organizers of the annual  Christmas tree raffle enjoyed their biggest fundraising milestone yet, taking in more than $80,000 from the tree raffle.
