Thieves use snow-cover at Lac La Biche compound break-in

Boots, a winter jacket, and a balaclava matched the snowy weather and covered the identity of one suspect in Tuesday night’s break-in.
Thieves with face coverings and large jackets cut through the fence of a Beaver Hill Road compound to steal items.
Video surveillance images were released by Lac La Biche RCMP in relation to the overnight Tuesday break-in.

Overnight snow on Tuesday didn't cool down criminal activity in Lac La Biche, as RCMP were called to a break-in a few lots away from their detachment.

Mounties drove just a few hundred feet up Beaver Hill Road on Wednesday morning to investigate reports that a fenced compound beonging to Alberta Agriculture and Forestry had been broken into by thieves who rummaged through vehicles and stole tools and equipment.

Lac La Biche RCMP say thieves cut the chain link fence that was topped with barbed-wire sometime overnight to gain entry into the compound area. Once inside, police say the suspects broke into vehicles, trailer, sheds and containers causing damage and stealing multiple items.

Surveillance footage from the area captured images of the suspects, who police say fled the area in an unknown vehicle.
