GIrls' Lakeland U15 softball season swings to a close

Caydence Bohn of the Elk Point Pumas will beat the tag from the St. Paul Storm third baseman Addison Lavasseur in action from the tier 2 bronze medal game at the Lac La Biche diamonds.

The Lakeland Minor Ball U15 girls softball teams wrapped-up their season over the June 24 weekend at Lac La Biche's Bold Center diamond. When the dust setled on Sunday afternoon, the Vermilion U15 Reds were crowned as tier 1 league champs. The Reds beat Lloydminister in the championship finals. The bronze medal in tier 1 went to Cold Lake.

In the tier 2 championships, the Pierceland Pirates beat the Bonnyville Angels 15-11 in the finals of the championship weekend. The St. Paul Storm earned the bronze medal after beating regional rivals the Elk Point Pumas 13-11.

There are 15 teams in the Lakeland Minor Ball U15 girls softball division, with tier 1 and 2 teams  representing communities from Plamondon to Vermilion.
