PWHL Roundup: Fleet sail past Victoire, Frost top Sceptres in pre-season play

MONTREAL — Hilary Knight scored twice, including the eventual winner, as the Boston Fleet sailed past the Montreal Victoire 3-1 on Wednesday in Professional Women's Hockey League pre-season action.

Knight opened the scoring 6:35 into the first period, then scored again in the final minute of the second.

Shay Maloney added some insurance for Boston (1-0-0), scoring into an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left in the third period.

Klara Pesalarova started in goal for the Fleet, stopping 13 of the 14 shots she faced in 30:23 of play. Emma Soderberg came on midway through the game, stopping 14 shots to earn the win.

Maureen Murphy was the lone scorer for Montreal (0-1-0).

Ann-Renee Desbiens started in net for the Victoire, turning aside 22 of the 24 shots she faced in the first two periods. Sandra Abstreiter came on in the third and made seven saves.

TORONTO — Katy Knoll's second-period goal held up as the game winner, and Minnesota (1-0-0) opened their pre-season with a 3-1 victory over Toronto (0-1-0). The Frost scored three straight — including two goals 14 seconds apart — before Kaitlin Willoughby got Toronto on the board 18:11 into the second period.
