Couple facing drug-related charges plead not guilty

Two people accused of drug-related charges have pled not guilty, and will be facing trial on May 16, 2011.

Omer Rodger Gamache and his wife, Margie Ann Gamache, appeared in St. Paul Provincial Court this past month to enter the pleas and elected to have a trial in front of a provincial court judge, rather than a jury. The other accused, their son Joseph Bernie Gamache, has yet to enter a plea in connection to the charges. He has reserved election until Sept. 30.

Elk Point and St. Paul RCMP detachments executed a search warrant at a rural location and a St. Paul business on May 12, finding a large quantity of drugs, stolen property, firearms and ammunition. According to an RCMP press release, members seized several long-barrel firearms, ammunition, drugs such as marijuana, hashish, ecstacy, LSD and cocaine with a street value of about $36,000, and stolen property valued at a total of $155,000.

Following the search, the Gamaches were charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property and careless storage of firearms.
