Junior high golfers hit the links

ST. PAUL/TWO HILLS - Golfers taking part in this year's junior high St. Paul Athletics Association (SPAA) golf championship hopped on buses, making their way to the the Two Hills area, Tuesday morning.

"For the first time in its existence, Two Hills Lions Golf Club hosted the 2023 Junior High SPAA Golf championship," explained Shaun Peters, athletic director with Two Hills School.

"We had 67 golfers participate this year, which was a great turn out. Conditions were great and the players and supervisors were amazed at the shape and condition of our beautiful nine hole golf course," added Peters.

As the competition wrapped up, this year's SPAA banners would be awarded to Racette Team 3 on the boys' side, and Glen Avon School on the girls' side.

Making for some close competition on the boys' side, Racette Team 2 also performed well on Sept. 19, finishing with a score of 38, which was just three strokes away from the winning team's score of 35. In third place was the team from F.G. Miller Jr./Sr. High from Elk Point, finishing just one point back, with a score of 39.

On the girls' side, Glen Avon would win with a score of 47, followed by the second-place team from Mallaig School with a score of 49. In third place was the girls' team from Racette, finishing with a score of 56.
