In northern Alberta, the best times to view the aurora will be between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

Aiming to offer the community a place to gather, have a coffee, visit with neighbours - and also purchase locally grown and made goods - a newly established approved farmer's market will be starting in Ashmont.

St. Paul Youth Council (SPYC), in partnership with St. Paul Municipal Library, joined with other libraries across the nation to celebrate Free Comic Book Day on May 4.  

The St. Paul Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment on May 6, and while no injuries were reported, firefighters did help resuscitate a pet cat. 

The Vilna Veselka Dancing Club celebrated its 45th anniversary on May 3 during its annual spring concert.

The County of St. Paul lifted its fire ban on May 7, going down to a Level 3 Fire Restriction.

“If the community is expecting this level of service that we are presently providing, it has to be somehow paid for,” says St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller.

An Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training workshop was offered in Mallaig April 20 and 21.

A search warrant was executed on a residence in Saddle Lake Cree Nation on May 4 and drugs, cash and other items were seized by police.

Members of the public and motorists are asked to be vigilant and exercise caution on May 7 as the 42nd Annual RCMP Challenge Cup Relay Race will take place in St. Paul.
