There are now four confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Bonnyville area.

As of the province’s update this afternoon (March 26) there have been four confirmed coronavirus cases in the Bonnyville area and one in Cold Lake.

In an email statement to the Nouvelle, Alberta Health Services (AHS) said they directly contact any individuals that may have been exposed and ask them to self-isolate to after being tested for COVID-19.

"This is called contact tracing, and is done in response to each case of COVID-19 we confirm by lab testing. Again, all individuals exposed to a case are contacted directly by AHS. Only those individuals contacted directly by AHS are considered exposed to any case. If you are not contacted directly by AHS, you are not considered exposed."

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information is provided unless AHS believes there was a possibility someone may have been exposed.

There are a total of 486 throughout the province. In the north zone, which encompasses Bonnyville and Cold Lake, there have been 26 confirmed cases.
