BONNYVILLE – H.E Bourgoin middle school hosted a performance of The Nutcracker during the school’s Christmas concert on Dec. 17.

Music teacher Erika Tienhaara explained that she and Grade 8 teacher Peggy Chick directed the play.

When asked how the children did, Tienhaara responded, “I think the kids did fabulous. We actually just got our stage two days ago, so yesterday and today were their first times on stage and they did great - they learned it super quickly.”

Tienhaara said the children have enjoyed the experience of putting on the play, including the rehearsals, and that they loved performing and becoming different characters.

“They love all their dances, and being fairies and candy canes,” said Tienhaara, “[Rehearsals] we’re a great experience. I will say, for the Grade 5’s, they did great and pulled it together so quick.”

The crowd cheered, and the cast and choir joined in for a hearty applause in appreciation of their directors.
