LAC LA BICHE – Lac La Biche County resident Yvonne Zevola has been making the lives of people in need – especially seniors – a little brighter during the holiday season by organizing the delivery of simple, but special gift packages.

Zevola, whose family farms and lives in the Hylo-Venice area, makes up colourful bags containing socks, hand and food lotion, candies, and a holiday card. The bags and their contents are sponsored by members of the community, and then delivered to the Lac La Biche Health Unit where they are distributed to those who are in need during the Christmas season.

“I put the bags together, then people sponsor them,” Zevola told Lakeland this Week, explaining that she has been doing the holiday gesture for the past couple of years as a personal initiative through her home-based business. Having the opportunity to lend a helping hand in the community is a pursuit she appreciates.

“I enjoy giving back, and especially to seniors who may otherwise not get anything for Christmas,” she stated.
