The Lac La Biche 11U-1 Dodgers brought home gold medals during a tournament that took place at the Bold Centre ball diamonds over the June 21 weekend.

The competition, which was hosted by the Lac La Biche Minor Ball Association, featured 11U baseball and U11 softball teams from the Lac La Biche area, Boyle, Buffalo Lake, Kikino, St. Paul, and Plamondon.

Both baseball and softball tournaments took place over the three days, with playoffs happening on Sunday, followed by silver and gold games in the afternoon to determine the winners. The St. Paul Storm 11U-2 team defeated the Lac La Biche Dodgers 11U-2 in a close semifinal 22-21 contest to move on to the finals, where they faced Lac La Biche Dodgers 11U-1.

In that game, the Dodgers swept St. Paul 20-9 to win gold while the Storm left with silver.

For the softball finals, due to a double knockout, the St. Paul tier one and tier teams faced each other on the mound. That game, which got underway at 4:30 p.m., was called off due to lightning.

On Tuesday, June 25, the Lac La Biche Minor Ball Association will wrap up the season by hosting its annual year-end barbeque. The event takes place in the gazebo near the ball diamonds from 5-8 p.m.
