Bandits finish up season

The Bandits on a punt return during their first game of the season. The Bandits have come a long way since that game, finishing the season this past week with a solid effort versus Wainwright.

The Bonnyville Bandits had a tough go of it this season, but they never gave up. The Bandits had their two strongest performances in their final two games of the season. Saturday was their final game of the season, which they lost to the Wainwright Commandos 44-18. Regardless of the score, coach Dan Jubinville said the boys were “all in good spirits and really having fun out there.”

Jubinville commended his players for moving the ball well on offence and making some key stops on defence. But Wainwright's offence just kept pushing and managed to build a lead heading into the second half.

“Wainwright had some really fast kids out there, blistering fast,” said Jubinville.

With it being the final game of the season, Jubinville decided to reward his team for the hard work and the progress they've made all year. During the entire second half he had his players calling their own plays.

“We let them play the ball the way they wanted…and they were mixing it up good,” explained Jubinville.

Jubinville also played his entire roster, getting each player into the game. He said, “It's good experience…its gets everyone involved.”

With about 15 players moving up to the Voyageurs next season, Jubinville is looking forward to about 30 players returning to his squad. He said the experience his players gained this year was invaluable and he expects an even stronger team next year.
