LAKELAND - The Northeastern Alberta Hockey League will take a short break in gameplay over the Christmas holidays.
Teams in the minor hockey league will play their last games of 2024 on December 22, with some teams returning to the ice early in the new year on the January 4 weekend. Lakeland teams in the U18 level, teams like the St. Paul Canadiens, the La La Biche Clippers and the Plamondon Cougars don't have scheduled league games in the new year until the January 17 weekend, with St. Paul playing in Wabasca and Lac La Biche playing in Plamondon.
In the last games of 2024 before the mid-season break, the Clippers are set to face the neighbouring Cougars for an afternoon game on Sunday, December 22 in the Plamondon arena, while the Canadiens face-off with Wabasca on the same day in the CAP Arena. The Lac La Biche-Plamondon game starts at 12:30 pm and the St. Paul Wabasca game starts at 11 am.
Going into the Christmas break, Plamondon and Lac La Biche are at the top of the U18 NEAHL north division, both with 12 points each. The Canadiens are five points back in the five-team northern division.
