The Cold Lake Ag Society hosted the Les Trach Memorial Bullarama - the second performance of their 30th Anniversary Series. The event was held at the Cold Lake Exhibition Park on April 5.

BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have announced that Chad Mercier has been hired as their next head coach.

During the event, Portage College athletes received awards while Ken Staples and Etienne Vaillancourt, the inductees for the 2024 Lac La Biche County Sports Hall of Fame, and were honoured for their contributions to sport in the local community.

Cold Lake was buzzing with excitement as it welcomed teams from across Alberta for the U13D Hockey Provincials, which were held at the Cold Lake Energy Centre Imperial Arena from March 20 to 23.  

The U15B female hockey provincials came to town March 28 to 30, bringing in hockey teams from across the province. The weekend started on Friday with round robin play, and opening ceremonies in the evening.

The Lakers defeated the Crowsnest Crush 6-3 on March 28 to win the 2025 National Junior Hockey League (NJHL) championship.

BONNYVILLE – The Nova RPM Bonnyville Curling Club is nearing the end of another season with their mixed bonspiel taking place March 21-23, and a cornhole tournament coming up on April 26, which will be their final fundraiser event of the season

Twenty-five members of the Lac La Biche Whitecaps swim club competed in the 2025 'swim-a-thon' event, which took place on March 21.

Although the Battle River Knights U18 female team may have defeated the St. Paul Canadiens in league finals, when the teams met again at the provincial championship, the Canadiens made sure it didn’t happen again. 

Head coach Derek Zapisocki said the Bengals are now preparing for the upcoming season. Spring camp will begin in May and recruitment is also underway.
