The Alberta College Athletics Conference (ACAC) season-opening game for the Portage College Voyageurs men’s team saw them enter the scoreboard but finish in a 7-1 loss against the Concordia Thunder last Friday.

The season opener for the Portage College Voyageurs men's and women’s soccer teams kicked off on Sept. 9 at home, ending in losses for both teams.

The game, which was held on the teams’ home field at the Bold Center, didn't yield the results the teams were looking for against the Concordia University Thunder.

The Voyageurs women’s team finished in a 9-0 loss against the Thunder in a fierce game that drew plenty of spectators. The men’s team was able to get on the scoreboard in the second half of the soccer game, with defenseman Bjorn Gooliebut scoring. But, the Concordia team dominated the scoreboard and the game finished 7-1 in favour of the Thunder.

With the Alberta College Athletics Conference (ACAC) soccer season just starting, both teams have just over 10 games left to play in the north division’s regular season.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams will play the Kings University’s Eagles on Sept. 17 in Edmonton. They will then return home to face the Lakeland Rustlers the following day, with the women kicking off at noon and the men at 2 p.m. on the Bold Center’s turf field.
