BONNYVILLE – In the early morning of Oct. 19, the unofficial results from the Town of Bonnyville’s 2021 municipal election were released.
Approximately 1,275 residents of the Town of Bonnyville cast a ballot in the municipal election. Only 29 per cent of the 4,375 eligible voters residing in the Town headed to the polls.
Filling the role of mayor will be former Town councillor, Elisa Brosseau, after receiving a sweeping 942 votes. Challenging Brosseau for the mayoral position was Duane Zaraska, who received 333 votes. A difference of 609.
The six councillors likely to be sworn in to council following the official results include, Kayla Blanchette, Byron Johnson, David Sharun, Phil Kushnir, incumbent Coun. Brian McEvoy and Neil Langridge.
Garnishing the most votes was Kayla Blanchette and Byron Johnson, who both received an equal 627 votes.
David Sharun received 621, followed by Phil Kushnir with 516 votes.
Re-elected with 487 votes is Coun. Brian McEvoy. The last councillor slated to join the Town of Bonnyville council is Neil Langridge who received 475.
Not returning to council is incumbent Chad Colbourne, who received 371 votes.
Running candidate James Dale got 175 votes, Zak Eddamni received 259, Bryan Krawchuk garnished 355 votes and Trevor Makaruk pulled in 274. Michael Morris received 208 votes, and Darcy Zelisko came close to gaining a seat on council with 402 votes.
