LAKELAND - All major federal political parties are running candidates in the Lakeland riding and Fort McMurray-Cold Lake riding in the 2025 federal election, providing both regions with a full slate of choices for their next Member of Parliament.
The election will take place on April 28. When the House of Commons was dissolved on March 23, the Liberal Party had a minority government with 153 seats. The Conservative Party of Canada formed the official opposition with 120 seats. The Bloc Québécois had 33 seats. The New Democratic Party, which supported the Liberals with a Supply and Confidence agreement from 2022 through 2024, had 25 seats. Four Members of Parliament were sitting as independents, and the Green Party held two seats.
The official candidate list from Elections Canada will be released on April 9. The following is based on news releases and announcements made by federal political parties. Candidates are listed alphabetically by party affiliation.
