Vehicle-pedestrian collision in Edmonton sends 11-year-old boy to hospital

EDMONTON — An 11-year-old boy is in hospital after being hit by a vehicle near Edmonton's Britnell Park just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the boy and a friend were riding scooters on the sidewalk of 153 Avenue near 45 Street when the victim crossed the street at an unmarked crosswalk.

Officers say the boy was hit by a vehicle heading east.

The boy suffered serious injuries, and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The Edmonton Police Major Collision Investigation Section has taken control of the case.

Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone who has dash camera footage from the area of 153 Avenue and 45 Street around the time of the collision to please contact police.
