BONNYVILLE – Bonnyville Community Church volunteers put together a large dinner featuring international food, including dishes from the Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, and areas of Canada such as the Maritimes.
The event was hosted at the church on Nov. 22 and welcomed everyone from the community to gather for a unique, diverse, and plentiful meal. Proceeds raised at the dinner go toward operational costs of the church, although Pastor Ken Jagessar said the heart of the event is about bringing the community together.
“Feast of Nations celebrates global cuisine and community spirit,” explained Jagessar. “[The event] brought together a delightful array of global cuisines and a strong sense of community.”
Despite the wintery weather outside, Jagessar said the turnout for the event was “remarkable.” With six different food booths to choose from, attendees were eager to try the international food
“The atmosphere was warm and inviting, thanks to the stunning decorations that transformed the venue into a festive space. Laughter and fun filled the air as everyone enjoyed the delicious food and company of friends and family,” said Jagessar.
The event included a silent auction and added a layer of engagement. The auction included things like original artwork, kitchen appliances, and homemade baking.
Volunteers put in countless hours to make sure everything ran smoothly. The dessert table alone was a statement to the volunteer efforts, as it was packed with different types of desserts and quite frequently visited by those in attendance.
“Overall, the Feast of Nations was a memorable evening that highlighted the spirit of togetherness and the rich cultural diversity within our community,” said Jagassar.
