Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs record overtime loss against North Stars

BONNYVILLE - The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs took the first game of the season to overtime at the RJ Lalonde Arena in Bonnyville, ultimately losing 4-3 against the Battlefords North Stars, Sept. 6.

The Pontiacs opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Maxim Borovinsky, assisted by Braydon Vandenbilche and Cade Meiklejohn.

Although the Pontiacs went into the second period with a 1-0 lead, the North Stars' Brett Boucher came out strong and scored three goals for an early season hat-trick and to give his team a 3-1 lead.

The Pontiacs rallied back in the third period with a goal from Borovinsky, assisted by Ethan King and Brady Austin. 

Austin then got an unassisted goal of his own with less than two minutes on the clock to tie the game and for overtime.

In overtime, Gavin Granger of the North Stars would seal the win for the away team.

Bonnyville Pontiacs' goalie Cody Butikis saved 21 of 25 shots taken.

The Pontiacs are set to host the Devon Xtreme on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the RJ Lalonde Arena.
