BONNYVILLE - On May 4, the Bonnyville Municipal Library held a free community event to celebrate Free Comic Book Day, an annual event started in 2002 by North American comic book publishers as a way to attract new readers.

Jessica Robbins, a librarian in Bonnyville, stated within the first hour there were 40 people who came in to get free comics, of which there were over 20 to choose from. There was also an opportunity to make homemade buttons, and have a turn playing virtual reality games.

Robbins said VR machine and button-maker were on loan from the Northern Lights Library System, which has its headquarters in Elk Point.
