LAC LA BICHE - The Portage College Voyageurs' men’s hockey team enjoyed its first win of the season in a 4-1 away game against the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder on Friday, Oct. 4. However, during the rematch between the two teams at the Bold Center on Saturday, the Thunder roared back, defeating Portage College in a narrow 6-5 victory.

The Voyageurs suffered a double loss to the Augustana University Vikings on Sept. 20 and 21. While Portage College stayed off the scoreboard entirely in the first game-which played out at the Bold Center and resulted in a 3-0 win for the Vikings-the team did better in the 6-3 match that followed.

Mikal Chalifoux, and Ezra Baer, with assistance from teammates Ethan Aebly, Stavros Koutsantonis, and Avery McNabb, scored the three goals in the Sept. 21 game that took place in Camrose.

Portage College currently holds fourth spot in its seven-team Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Division.

The Voyageurs will be hitting the ice again on Oct. 18 when they travel to Edmonton to face off again against the Thunder. On Saturday, Oct. 19, the team hosts the Thunder on home ice in a 7 p.m. game at the Bold Center.
