Lac La Biche County lifts fire restriction

LAC LA BICHE - Days after reinstating a fire restriction due to dry conditions, Lac La Biche County has lifted the restriction after much of the area received some much-needed precipitation.

According to Lac La Biche County, fire permits will continue to be issued. The County advises that outdoor fires for cooking or warmth should remain in safe fire pits only.

The wildfire danger index for the Lac La Biche region remains at "very high"

Temperatures in the low 20s with a chance of rain were forecast for the weekend while warmer weather is expected going into the week.

An air quality advisory remains in effect for some areas. As stated by Environment Canada, wildfire smoke is causing or expected to cause very poor air quality and reduced visibility.
