LAC LA BIHE - Due to recent rainy conditions, Lac La Biche County ended its fire restriction on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 6.
This fire restriction had been in place since July 31. At that time, the municipality moved from a fire ban to a restriction which allowed for safe outdoor fires for cooking or warmth in engineered fire pits only, along with fire permits being issued on a case-by-case basis.
According to the Lac La Biche County social media page, the ending of the fire restriction means that burn permits for the area will be issued once again and safe outdoor fires for cooking or warmth are now permitted.
The County advises residents to fully extinguish any fires, obey all current fire restrictions, and to keep an eye out for future updates.
According to Randi Adams, a spokesperson with the Alberta Government, currently, there are no restrictions or bans in the Lac La Biche Forest Protection Area.
“They were lifted early last week,” Adams told Lakeland This Week.
