The final results and medal standings from the World Archery Field Championships hosted in Lac La Biche from Sept. 16-22 have been posted.

The week-long event, starting with an opening ceremony to welcome 250 athletes from 28 countries, and wrapping up six days later with the final medal rounds, once again put the Lac La Biche region and the Lakeland Archers club on the internation map, say organizers.

Qualifying matches took place at the outdoor trails of the Lakeland Archers group, the Herb Erickson Archer Lanes. Other events over the week included social and community events like a cultural food night, Indigenous awareness, and a community rodeo.

The medal finals saw the driving range at the lakeside Lac La Biche Golf Club transformed into an archery range. The unique set up saw the archers taking aim at ground targets ranging in distance from 20 to 45 metres. A final target was 55 metres away ... and 10 metres in the air, held in place with zoom boom equipment. The final events challenged the athletes who had been he week's top competitors in individual and team events. The final events for the gold, silver and bronze medals took place in front of a gallery of fans.

The full championship results can be found at the World Archery website.
