BEAVER LAKE - A man wanted by Lac La Biche RCMP has been taken into custody.

On Oct. 27 at 12:52 a.m., Lac La Biche RCMP received information that a man who was being sought by RCMP was leaving a property in Beaver Lake in a red Ford Ranger.

Officers were in the area on an unrelated complaint and were able to follow the man "until they were able to safely deploy a tire deflation device," according to information from RCMP.

Peter Hamelin, 39, was taken into custody without incident. He will be held for a judicial interim release hearing for several outstanding warrants and new charges.

The day before, RCMP said they had located a stolen truck that they believed was being driven by Hamelin, but at that time he was still at large.

Police had been trying to locate Hamelin since Oct. 24 when a shelter-in-place was put into effect in Beaver Lake. At the time, Police said Hamelin was considered to be armed and dangerous
