Canadiens take 2-0 lead in series against Border Chiefs

ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Canadiens have taken a 2-0 lead in the first series of NEAJBHL playoffs against the Onion Lake Border Chiefs.

The Canadiens skated away with a 14-1 win on Saturday night, following their 6-0 win on Thursday night.

The Canadiens will hop the bus for Onion Lake on Wednesday this week for Game 3. Depending on the outcome of Wednesday's game, the Canadiens could wrap up the series in four games on Feb. 23, also in Onion Lake. If Game 5 is needed, it would take place in St. Paul on Feb. 24.

Elsewhere in the league, Lloydminster is also up 2-0 in their series against the Cold Lake Ice; the Wainwright Bisons are up 2-0 against the Vegreville Rangers; and the Vermilion Tigers are up 2-0 against the Killam Wheat Kings.

A few league awards were also handed out on Saturday night in St. Paul. More to come...
