Notre Dame girls and Plamondon boys are Wow Pow champs

The Plamondon Hawks set, served, dug and bumped their way to gold on the boys' side of the Wow Pow tourney.
Leading to their championship gold win, the Hawks played their hometown rivals, the Ecole Beausejour Lynx.
The final courts of the 2022 Wow Pow tournament were busy. The tourney went from Friday morning until the early evening hours of Saturday at the Bold Center.

The JAWS girls' team got to the semifinals of the 42-team event.
The weekend of volleyball saw more than 140 volleyball matches that took over the JAWS gynmasium at the Bold Center and the gym at Aurora Middle School.
The Wildwood team from Fort McMurray was one of the 42 high school teams at the 50th anniversary of the Wow Pow volleyball weekend.

It was a local final on the boys' side of the annual Wow Pow high school volleyball tournament. The annual volleyball tournament  took over the Lac La Biche Bold Center over the weekend with 42 high school volleyball teams from across northern Alberta.

The host-team J.A. Williams High School Sharks faced the Hawks from the neighbouring Ecole Plamondon School in front of a large and loud section of fans in Saturday night's final match of the two-day tourney.

Plamondon came out with the win, continuing their aggressive run through the event. 

NDHS girls get gold

On the girls' side of the event that celebrated its 50th year this year, the Ecole Plamondon girls team also made it the championships, facing the strong squad from Bonnyville's Notre Dame High School.  Bonnyville came out of the championship game with the gold.

The J.A. Williams girls made it through to the semifinal round, but was knocked out by the Plamondon girls in a three-set nail-biter.
