Angels to the rescue

To the Editor:

This season reminds us of miracles and compassion and St. Paul is home to people who acted in the spirit of the season.

On Dec. 7, there was an accident on the corner of 50 Street and 50 Avenue in St. Paul. I was driving, with my father and daughter as passengers, when we were struck by an oncoming pickup truck. The first people to arrive on the scene were a lovely couple from Bonnyville. I wanted them to know how grateful we were for their call to 911. The woman provided emergency response the details while staying calm and in control. The man lent comfort to me and my family until emergency vehicles got there. We are very moved by their kindness and how well they handled the situation.

I would also like to express my appreciation to Const. Danielle LaRouge for her assistance, patience and understanding. I feel she really went beyond the call of duty in taking care of our needs and getting us home safely.

Being in an accident was the scariest thing I have ever had to face but the people who assisted – everyone, including the people with the cell phone, the emergency response team, the hospital staff and the tow truck driver – all acted as angels!

We are so blessed to have walked away from the accident with minor bumps and bruises and very grateful hearts.
