Parks Canada is warning intermittent closures may be required between Parker Ridge and Saskatchewan Crossing on Friday (Jan. 17) to allow for avalanche control.
A winter storm is anticipated to hit Jasper and Banff National Parks and bring as much as 15 centimetres of snow.
"Parks Canada only closes roads when absolutely necessary, when weather, road or avalanche conditions present a risk to human life," the agency stated in a public notice.
Motorists are advised to check 511 Alberta for up-to-date road conditions ahead of time.
They are also asked to respect road closures and delays, know road closures and delays, check the weather forecast and be prepared by having an emergency car kit.
