Emergency services from multiple communities are responding

A tent has collapsed at the Westlock Meditation Centre and emergency vehicles from multiple communities are responding.

Around 5:30 p.m., fire, ambulance, and RCMP from surrounding communities, including Busby, Westlock, and St. Albert, were called to the Westlock Meditation Centre after a large tent collapsed on the site.

The centre was slated to host an 11-day-long retreat starting on Aug. 1 and running until Aug. 11.

The RCMP are closing the road near the Meditation Centre on Township Road 580 and Range Road 270.

The centre is about 20 kilometres south of Westlock.
