CANMORE, Alta. – Canmore RCMP are investigating the electrocution death of a man in a hot tub at a local vacation rental property on Monday night (Aug. 29).

Canmore-Fire Rescue was first on scene after getting the call at about 9:10 p.m.

“The crew did respond and they were able to disconnect the power so that they could get to the patient,” said fire chief Lance Bushie.

“Then they performed CPR and did everything they could to revive the man.”

STARS air ambulance was called from Calgary to Canmore. The man was believed to be in his 20s or early 30s.

Canmore RCMP say they are in the early stages of the investigation and not in a position to release any information.

At this time, no details are being released on which vacation rental property it was.

“If there are any possible witnesses to come forward, that will be very helpful,” said Sgt. Jack Wrobel, who is the officer in charge of operations at Canmore RCMP.

The number to call is 403-678-5519.
