Hiker taken to hospital after accident in Upper Kananaskis Lakes area

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries while hiking in the area of Upper Kananaskis Lakes Sunday afternoon.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries while hiking in the area of Upper Kananaskis Lakes Sunday afternoon (Oct. 13).

STARS air ambulance and paramedics responded to a call at about 2:30 p.m., resulting in the man being taken to hospital.

“One adult with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, was assessed/stabilized by EMS paramedics and transported via STARS to the Foothills Medical Center,” said Adam Loria, a public education officer with Alberta Health Services EMS, in an email.

Natalie Hofstetter, regional communications team lead for STARS, said in an email they were unable to confirm the patient’s condition when they were transported.
