The search for a 76-year-old woman north of Athabasca continued into the afternoon of May 10, despite the best efforts of a variety of agencies.
Search and rescue teams, as well as a rented helicopter and an RCMP Remote Pilot Aircraft System, have been involved. In total nine different branchs of Alberta Search and Rescue have joined in, including: Grande Priarie, Greenview, Edmonton, Hinton, Fort McMurray, Parkland, Slave Lake and Calling Lake. Athabasca County Emergency Services also continue to be involved.
RCMP Cpl. Dan Fenton said crews would continue to search into the evening, before picking up again in the morning. Fenton thanked everyone, including community volunteers for their hard work, but said the plan was to keep things to a smaller scale not to inhibit co-ordination efforts.
