RCMP officer released from hospital following crash in Northern Alberta

BARRHEAD, Alta. - No serious injuries occurred after an accident involving a semi-truck and an RCMP vehicle on the morning of Oct. 1.

According to an RCMP media release, the accident happened at about 9:16 a.m. on Highway 43 near Range Road 83, near Mayerthorpe.

Emergency services attended the scene, and EMT personnel assessed the occupants of the vehicles for injuries.

RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelsey Davidge noted the semi-truck driver was uninjured but that the RCMP member had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, treated for his injuries and was released shortly after.

As the result of the accident and subsequent investigation, a portion of the highway was closed for a period but is now open.
