The Strathmore RCMP is investigating another murder in Rocky View County.
According to police, a driver noticed a fire on the side of the road by a motorist who was driving on Township Road 233 near Highway 791, in Rocky View County, on on Sept. 11, 2024, at approximately 1:35 a.m.
Police were then called to the scene, and once the fire was out, they discovered a deceased person, which they are calling the victim of a homicide.
An official autopsy will be completed on Sept. 12, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation, and is seeking assistance from anyone who may have dash camera footage and was in this area between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
RCMP is also seeking to speak with anyone who has dash camera footage and was driving west or east between those times on Highway 560, west of the Glenmore and Stoney Trail overpass.
There have already been two other homicides reported in Rocky View County this year.
On April 3, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County where victim Kyle Schuiling was discovered. Police later charged two men, Christopher Stack (39), a resident of Calgary, and Tyler Griffiths (37), with the crime.
On Aug. 6, a Rocky View County employee, identified as Colin Hough, was murdered and a FortisAlberta employee was wounded on at Range Road 282 and Township Road 250 in Rocky View County. Arthur Wayne Penner was later charged with the first-degree-murder. A second alleged perpetrator, Elijah Blake Strawberry, 28, remains at a large.
