RCMP seize cocaine, cash in Cold Lake

Ontario man arrested in Northern Alberta after drug-trafficking investigation turns up cocaine and thousands in cash.

COLD LAKE - Drugs, money and other items "consistent with drug trafficking" were seized by Cold Lake RCMP on July 19, following a search warrant executed on a dwelling in Cold Lake North, and a vehicle.

Cold Lake RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) concluded the short-term drug trafficking investigation on Friday, and at about 3 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP executed the search warrant.

One man was taken into custody "and a search resulted in police locating approximately 220 grams of suspected cocaine, $5,600.00 in Canadian currency, 47 psilocybin bars packaged for sale, and other items consistent with drug trafficking," according to information from RCMP.

Ryan Rivait, 27, a resident of Belle River, Ont., was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime.

Rivait was released on a $250 Cash Release Order with conditions after a Judicial Interim Hearing. He is schedule to appear in the Cold Lake Court of Justice on July 24.
