BONNYVILLE – The Town of Bonnyville announced that the 2024 Municipal census results had been received, and they show an increase in the town's population from 6,359 in 2021 to 6,675 in 2024.
The Town of Bonnyville said the results show that Bonnyville is continuing to “thrive as a vibrant and dynamic community.”
The official results were sent to the Town of Bonnyville at the end of January, and though the town’s shadow population did not meet the threshold for inclusion on the 2024 municipal census, the Town of Bonnyville says there will still be benefits that will result from the increased population information.
“The updated population data will play a crucial role in future planning and funding decisions for the Town. Accurate population figures help ensure that Bonnyville receives appropriate provincial and federal funding, and they inform infrastructure development, community services, and other key municipal initiatives,” stated the Town of Bonnyville.
The ministry confirmed that the methodology used was consistent with the Municipal Census Regulations, and the Town of Bonnyville released a statement about how important it is to get an accurate record of the population.
“The Town of Bonnyville extends its gratitude to all residents who participated in the census, contributing to the accuracy and success of this important project.”
