BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville Agricultural Society is hosting their annual fall fair Sept. 14 and 15 at the Bonnyville Rodeo grounds.

The rodeo grounds open at 10 a.m. for a farmers' market, followed by the rodeo during the day, and a dance that starts at 7 p.m., featuring the Dirt Road Maniacs.

Corey Dows from the Bonnyville Ag Society says the Fall Fair keeps getting bigger and better. Those who felt like they missed out on the incredible event last year, can experience it this year with the return of the pony chucks and Indian relay.

“We’ve grown the fall fair from a one-day event with a farmers' market and children's activities, to a two-day event with pony chucks, ranch rodeo, and Indian relay. It was well received so we’re trying to make it bigger all the time... If people keep showing up, we will keep growing,” said Dows.

Dows admits that it takes a massive effort to put on such a large event, but the response has been positive. More features are being added as the event gains traction, with the barbecue competition Big Smoke Bonnyville joining in this year.

The Dirt Road Maniacs feature musicians from across Saskatchewan with their country-rock style.

Leroy Laliberte from the Dirt Road Maniacs said the band is looking forward to returning to Bonnyville to play.

“We really enjoyed playing in Bonnyville last time. Such great hospitality. We want to come and get everybody involved. We get the crowd going and play a little bit of everything - old country to the new stuff, a bit of country rock.”

Laliberte explains that some members of the band grew up together and have made music together for many years. All the members are artists who sing and create music, and they come together to put on shows and create fun and memorable performances.

The Indian relay racing is being presented in conjunction with the Kehewin Cree Nation.

There will be plenty of children's activities as well as a beer garden, making this event one for all ages.
