BONNYVILLE - The Bonnyville Health Foundation (BHF) is excited to announce the launch of a crucial donation campaign to raise funds for the creation of a new mental health seclusion room as part of the upcoming Emergency Department renovation.

This project is an essential step towards improving mental health care in our community, offering a safe and calming space for patients in distress. The new mental health seclusion room will provide individuals experiencing mental health crises with a quiet, supportive environment where they can feel secure while receiving the necessary care. Designed with patient comfort and safety in mind, this dedicated space will allow healthcare professionals to better manage critical situations and improve outcomes for those in need.

“Supporting mental health initiatives is a vital part of fostering a healthier, more resilient community,” says Dawn Weber, Executive Director of BHF. “With the rising awareness around mental health, it’s imperative that we continue to enhance our facilities to better meet the needs of those who require urgent care. This seclusion room is an important part of our broader mission to ensure everyone in our community has access to the compassionate care they deserve.”

The Bonnyville Health Foundation is calling on the generosity of local businesses, residents, and supporters to contribute to this vital cause. This project has a total expected cost of approximately $243,000 and $71,658 has already been contributed by the fund formerly operated by the Foundation, Tyler Chislett Memorial Fund.

The remaining $171,342 will be raised over the course of the next several months.

“The need for mental health related healthcare has never been more evident, and we have decided to make Mental Health the focus of our 25th Silver Anniversary Gala that will be held on April 12, 2025,” Weber added. Individual or corporate donations or sponsorships can be made in advance and will be recognized the night of the gala. Davey Drug Mart Pharmasave and our local Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 have each already committed a $5,000 contribution toward this project.

The Demeria Memorial Foundation has also committed a $3,000 contribution. The Allard Foundation has collaborated with a $10,000 contribution. Pikowicz Farms, LSC Industrial and Boon Energy, among others, have already committed to sponsor the 2025 Gala Live Auction that will support the Local Mental Health fund that night as well.

Every donation, big or small, will go directly towards making the new seclusion room a reality.

Donors can give a gift easily by visiting the BHF website at www.bonnyvillehealthfoundation.org and select the Drop-Down option for Local Mental Health. Additionally, the BHF is currently hosting a cash raffle in conjunction with the 2025 Gala with over $25,000 in cash prizes. Purchasing a raffle ticket online is another great way to contribute toward projects like this one.
