BONNYVILLE - Two suspects were arrested by Bonnyvill RCMP after an officer noticed a side-by-side on the Iron Horse Trail near an industrial area, parked "suspiciously close to the fence line of a business."
The incident happened in the early morning hours of March 19.
"As the member approached, they observed one suspect climbing back over the fence onto the trail and into the UTV [side-by-side] which fled down the trail," according to information from RCMP.
"The member alerted another member who was close by in the direction the UTV was driving. Police vehicle emergency lights were activated and the UTV tried to turn around but got stuck in a ditch and both suspects ran from police."
A foot pursuit took place, but ultimately both suspects were apprehended.
"It was determined the UTV they were driving was stolen from a residence in Elk Point in February."
Braedan Tizzard, 29, of Bonnyville was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of trespassing, resisting arrest, two counts of mischief /damage to property over $5,000, and flight from police. He was released from custody and is set to appear in court on April 1.
Tyler Jahn, 31, of Bonnyville was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, trespassing, resisting arrest and three counts of disobeying a court order. He was remanded into custody and his next court appearance is March 25.
