BONNYVILLE – The Bonnyville and District SPCA is hosting a disco party as their biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds will go toward helping the shelter with operating costs and supporting the most vulnerable animals in the community.
Executive Director Lindsay McNaught said the event will be held on Nov. 29 at the Seniors Drop-in Centre and doors will open at 5 p.m.
“The Disco Inferno is our new fundraiser this year. It's a disco themed evening of ‘70s fever and fundraising,” said McNaught.
Tickets are $75 each and a table of eight is $600. Tickets are available for sale at Pet Value, Ranchman's, Tellier's, and the SPCA Shelter.
McNaught said this upbeat event includes dinner and dancing, with a DJ, live and silent auction, raffles, and costume contest prizes.
“We’ve got a great live and silent auction going on, and we will also be doing music trivia, like a name that tune game. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said McNaught.
McNaught says the venue will be decorated in a 1970s theme, and attendees are encouraged to dress up according to the theme also.
“We used to do a comedy show before, but this year we decided to go a different route and do more of a party for this fundraiser, and we wanted to do a themed event and try something new,” said McNaught.
She said that for last-minute attendees there will be a limited number of tickets sold at the door.
“We have a good group of volunteers. Our board of directors has been a big help for this event. If anyone would like to volunteer for the event, they can send me an email and we will be happy to have the help,” said McNaught.
